The casting process of steel castings is characterized by wide range of materials. It can produce all kinds of precision steel castings, aluminum alloy, ferroalloy and pot alloy castings. For brittle alloy materials with poor plasticity such as ordinary cast iron, casting is the only feasible forming process. Steel castings have certain dimensional accuracy, which is more accurate than ordinary forgings and welds in general. In addition, the production and processing cost of cast steel is low, the comprehensive economic performance is good, and the consumption and cost of energy materials are all unmatched by other metal forming methods.

Precision steel castings account for 40 to 80 percent of the total quality of general machinery and equipment, while manufacturing costs account for only 25 to 30 percent of total equipment costs.
